Seven Pioneer School students left the wind racked streets of Spokane, traveled south to Pullman, and carried home the team trophy by a wide margin:
Pioneer School 16.5,  Jefferson Elementary School 13.5,  Lincoln Middle School 12.5

In the Pawn Section (grade 1-3) first place was won outright by Connor Goselin-Harris with 4.5 points. Second place, with 4 points was captured by Mir Park. Ryan Ha took first in grade 1,  Alden Duff won first in grade 2, and Addison Bowen placed first in grade 3.

The winner of the Knight Section (grade 1-5) was determined by tie-breaks with 4.5 points each. Varum Ambalavanan pulled first and Aniketh Parlapalli won second. Grade winners are Aditya Banyopadhyay and Liam Reeves in grade 4. Emrik Gollnick captured first in grade 5.

The Rook Section (grades 1-12) winner was also a close contest. Second grader Mythreya Dharani, playing-up in the top section pulled first place with 4.5 points. Ethan Kessler, also scoring 4.5 points, pulled a draw with Mythreya, but took second place due to tie-break analysis. Grade winners of the  Rook Section were: grade 6 won by Collin Bannister; middle school won by Shohom Bandyopadhyay; and  high school won by Austin Nasralis.

Brian Fugh won the upset trophy with a huge 388 point spread.
All players with 3 points or more qualify for WA State Elementary Championship.            by John Dill
